*** Readme file for Teatro Regio - Parma - MIMO impulse responses *** In this folder you can download a large ZIP file containing measurements of impulse responses performed at the Teatro Regio of Parma on date 20 January 2015, using a 32-capsules Eigenmike-32 spherical microphone arrrays, and a 32-speakers spherical source. Both microphone and source were oriented with the X-axis aligned to the main axis of the hall, looking at the wall behind the stage. This defines the XYZ reference for Ambisonics. The measurements were perfomed with an exponential sine sweep, 10 s long, ranging between 22 Hz and 22 kHz. The processing made use of beamforming filter matrices, synthesizing Ambisonics 3rd order directivities both for the source and for the receiver, in Ambix (16 channels) format. Furthermore, the results have also been beamformed using an SPS-32 unidirectional filter matrix, both for the source and the receiver. For understanding the relationship between Ambisonics beamforming and SPS beamforming, please read this web page: http://www.angelofarina.it/SPS-conversion.htm More details on the measurement technique and on the format employed for packing the results in MIMO filter matrices are provided in this paper: http://www.angelofarina.it/Public/Papers/280-AES-2016.pdf Apart the MIMO matrix format, also a simplex Ambix 3rd order impulse response with an omni source was generated for each measurement point. There was just one source position, S1, in the center of stage, 4m behind the fire curtain. There were just 4 measurement points, along the main avis of the hall, at increasing distances from stage. The folder REGIO contains the 4 panoramic photos taken from each of the 4 recording positions, and a PDF containing a schematic plan of the theater with the position of source and receivers. MIMO impulse response matrix can be used for realtime auralization with directional sources, using a matrix convolution plugins such as X-volver, or, better, X-MCFX: http://www.angelofarina.it/X-MCFX.htm (c) by Angelo Farina, Parma, ITALY, June 2023
