*** Support files for the SPCMIC microphone array *** The SPCMIC is an 84-capsules dual-face planar microphone array https://spcmic.com/ The hardware of this compact microphone array is truly excellent. The provided software, indeed, has some problems. So here I made available all the FIR filter matrices embedded in the SPCMIC software, either in original version, and in a "rescaled" version where the gains have been adjusted so that the Full Scale sensitivity of a single capsule, equal to 132 dB SPL, is carefully preserved. These filter matrices are designed for being employed with any matrix convolution software, such as these VST plugins: - MCFX Convolver by Mathias Kronlachner - X-MCFX by Angelo Farina - X-volver by Angelo Farina - Sparta MAtrix Convolver by Leo McCormack Here you find also a number of test recordings (which show the problems of corrent version 0.8.4 of SPCMIC software). At the moment, the only way of operating correctly the SPCMIC is by using the Mac version of the SPCMIC standalone program, saving the recording into a file with extension .spcmic, changing the extension of the file to .wav, and opening it with the latest version of Reaper (the only program supporting WAV files with more than 64 channels). Then you can invoke the 128x128 version of X-MCFX, load the proper filter matrix for the beamforming format you want to obtain, and finally save the result onto a track with the proper number of channels (for example 16 for Ambix 3OA). You also find here a couple of Excel files containing the results of tests performend on the SPCMIC for evaluating the capsule sensitivity and the gain of the beamforming filters.
