*** Audacity 2.3.1 with ASIO support *** Instructions: unzip the password-protected ZIP file to a temporary folder. Copy all the files (audacity.exe and several DLL files) in the same folder where the official Audacity 2.3.0 was installed (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity) overwriting the existing files with the same name At this point launching audacity.exe should show the ASIO option, if any ASIO device driver is installed (install ASIO4ALL if you do not have a sound card already equipped with ASIO driver). Legal disclaimer: Till now Audacity had never been released pre-compiled with ASIO support enabled for complying with GPL license, which requires that the source code is made available for all the components of a pre-compiled executable released under the GPL license. The source code for the ASIO SDK was not freely available on the Internet until a short time ago. But nowadays the source code of the SDK is available without any registration here: http://www.steinberg.net/sdk_downloads/ASIOSDK2.3.2.zip So I think it is nowadays fully legitim to release Audacity precompiled with ASIO support. I followed the compiling instructions which are also freely available online, together with the source code for Audacity and WXwidget modules, from this web site: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Building_On_Windows As I provided the source code for everything thanks to the two links above, I think that I did nothing wrong. But for additional safety, I made the precompiled software available inside a password-protected ZIP container. Write me an Email at farina@unipr.it if you are unable to guess the password: angelo
