Urban And Environmental Applied Physics
This course assumes that students have already acquired some basic knowledge during their three-years degree, and in particular:
If necessary, students who are not already in possession of these basic knowledge can integrate their cultural background by using the teaching material (slides, handouts, video recording of the lessons) taken from the web page of the Environmental Technical Physics course held over the years past:
The first half of the course
(corresponding to the 1st cycle of lessons) is set with the methodology known as
"flipped classroom": the didactic part of the teaching makes use of multimedia
material made available on this website (NOT on ELLY or on other poorly
expandable platforms), as better specified in the following calendar.
Students should report to the class after viewing and studying the material relevant to each lesson. In the classroom the activity is carried out as a "workshop", based on the solution of concrete verification or design problems.
The teacher and the students themselves alternate on the blackboard, solving problems also in numerical form and carrying out project calculations and sizing.
The first part of the course is aimed at providing students with technical language, knowledge and design skills with reference to the following topics:
Exam Project (Laboratory)
The activity carried out in the first part of the course is aimed at developing a project, to be carried out during the second part (from March 2021 onwards), which is assigned to groups of 4 students, and which constitutes during this phase the main activity carried out in the classroom.
Students are entrusted with the drafting of a project related to a building inserted in an urban context with high population density, for which they will have to produce all the technical documentation required by the current regulatory framework: certificates of energy performance, classification of acoustic performances, report of verification of lighting requirements.
At each lesson, some students present the progress of their project and the whole class interacts providing suggestions and criticisms.
The final aim of the laboratory is the production of an elaborate, consisting of a technical report and some graphic tables, which will form the basis of evaluation together with the work done in the classroom.
Calendar of Lessons
(NB: the dates indicated for each topic are provisional, the calendar will undergo changes as the various topics are carried out)
In this section the calendar of
lessons will be inserted and links to download the multimedia material
to support the "flipped classroom" will be gradually added.
